Leadership

Roger A. Sink, EA, PA, ATA, ABA, ATP


Roger joined the firm full time in 1958 after graduation from Kansas State University. The firm was founded by Dale S. Van Valkenburgh in 1946. Through the years, Roger provided a strong leadership foundation from which the firm has grown and succeeded. Roger is managing partner and works with clients in general taxation, business management services and planning, estate tax planning and financial planning. He is a member of the National Society of Accountants and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, of which he served as president in 1973. Roger has a long history of giving back to the Manhattan and K-State community. His many areas of service include the Manhattan Airport Advisory Board, the Kansas Wildscape Foundation Board of Directors, Meadowlark Hills Foundation, and the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a member and past chair of the board of directors for KS StateBank, a trustee of The Master Teacher Institute for the Arts, and member of the K-State Endowment Association. Roger has served on the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund Board, the K-State Intercollegiate Council, and he and his wife, Connie, are members of the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the K-State President's Club and the Land Grant Legacy Society. Roger serves as a Trustee for the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. In 2007, Roger was awarded the prestigious Manhattan Legacy Award by the Meadowlark Hills Foundation. Roger was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2001.  Outside of his work at SGA, he and his wife, Connie, have farming and ranching operations in Kansas and Nebraska. He is also a Pizza Hut franchise owner in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Jim has provided tax, consulting and accounting services to clients for over 40 years. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1976 and joined the firm in 1980. As a partner, he provides leadership for the business consulting and tax services divisions within the firm. He works with clients on estate tax planning, business consulting, business valuation and income tax preparation and planning. Jim is an author and presenter of contining education programs in the areas of business valuation, income tax training and professional ethics. Community service is important to Jim, as he has served the Manhattan area in many roles. Jim was was one of the founders for the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and served as the organization's first board president. Jim serves as the 2017 Chairman for the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, of which he is past president.

Dustin joined the firm in 1997 after graduating from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He provides leadership for the firm's trust and estate tax services and also serves as the quality control partner. In addition to trust and estate tax preparation, Dustin provides a wide range of tax preparation and consulting services including individual, corporate, partnership and non-profit taxation, along with small business and QuickBooks consulting. Dustin serves the Manhattan community as a trustee of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. Dustin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and member and past president of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Outside of his leadership at the firm, Dustin enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife, Cassie, and his son, Cooper.

Chad has been practicing since 1998 after graduation from Kansas State University with degrees in accounting and agribusiness marketing. He joined the firm in 2000 and works primarily with clients in the areas of individual and business tax planning and preparation and QuickBooks software consulting as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. As partner, Chad oversees the firms branch offices and also is in charge of firm productivity, processes and efficiency management. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. A resident of Waterville, Chad serves his local community as a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Valley Heights Rotary Club, the USD 498 Foundation Board, and of the Sutton Lodge AF/AM No. 85. Outside of his role at SGA, Chad enjoys coaching youth sports, running, spending time with family, and watching college and professional sporting events.

Victor has been with the firm since 1990 and has been in public practice since 1988. He primarily serves individuals and small businesses in the area of tax preparation, tax planning and consulting. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Victor is also president of the firm's ProSportsTax division and is a board member of Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors -- a national charity that builds and modifies homes for wounded veterans injured in combat situations. Victor is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, of which he is past president. Outside of the office, Victor enjoys golf and attending sporting events.

Courtney has been part of the SGA team since 2011. Her responsibilities include business tax return preparation, planning, and consulting. Courtney graduated from Kansas State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and earned her CPA. In addition to her career, Courtney serves as Treasurer of Shepard’s Crossing in Manhattan. Outside of her time at the firm, she enjoys cheering on the K-State Wildcats, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs and spending time with her family, including her daughter, Hadley, and son, Burke.

Seth has provided business valuation and consulting for Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since joining the firm in 2013. During his professional career, Seth has had the opportunity to learn about businesses and their value from a variety of different angles and perspectives.  He serves as the manager for the Business Valuation Division and is responsible for preparing business valuations, consulting to businesses and individuals, working as a merger and acquisition advisor, completing client tax returns, and providing comprehensive financial analyses. Seth is a Kansas State University graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus area in Financial Services and Financial Management in 2009. Upon graduation, he went on to earn two additional certifications: Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor and Certified Valuation Analyst. Outside of his time at the firm, he serves as board president for the Pawnee Mental Health Foundation, is a member of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation Young Trustees, fosters for the Riley County Humane Society, serves as a Committee Chairman for the Riley County Humane Society Capital Campaign, and is 2016 graduate of Leadership Manhattan. He and his wife, Natalie, reside in Manhattan.

Jacob has worked at SGA and James Gordon & Associates CPA, P.A. since January 2017. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and specializes in audits for local governments and not-for-profit organizations. He is also QuickBooks certified. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Jacob began his career serving in the U.S. Army for five years. He completed his education at Kansas State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis areas of accounting and finance. He graduated from K-State with his Masters of Accountancy in December 2017. He serves on the Board of Directors for the No Stone Unturned Foundation. Outside of his work at SGA, Jacob enjoys golfing, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. ;

Tom has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since January 2008 when he interned with the firm and continued after graduation from Kansas State University in 2009 where he earned degrees in Accounting and Finance.  Tom serves individuals and small-medium sized business clients with their financial, accounting and tax needs and specializes in Tax Planning & Preparation, Consulting, the Agricultural & Real Estate Industries, and Sale, Merger & Acquisition Transactions.  Professionally, Tom is a member of the AICPA, the KSCPA, and PAAK, of which he is a past president. Outside of his work at SGA, Tom is a member of the Clay Center Rotary Club and enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica, and their four children.

Justin joined the SGA team in January of 2011, and holds a combined 18 years of experience in the accounting field. Justin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1998, and his Master of Accountancy in 1999 from Kansas State University. He primarily focuses on taxes, including business return tax preparation, small business tax preparation/planning, bank tax return preparation, and individual tax preparation. Professionally, Justin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and serves the community as a member of the Young Professionals of Manhattan and as the Board Member for the Konza United Way. Justin enjoys cheering on the many athletic programs at K-State and also enjoys cooking for family and friends.

Lori joined SGA in November 1985 and brings over 30 years of accounting experience to the firm. She is responsible for tax return preparation, specializing in work with restaurants and farming/ranching operations. Lori graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1985. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Outside of her time at the firm, she attends St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Blaine, Kansas, and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and following K-State sports, as well as the Kansas City Royals.

Within the firm, her main responsibilities include taxation and accounting for small businesses and individuals. She serves on the board of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas as a Past President and is a member of the National Society of Accountants. Prior to the development of her career, Tammy graduated from Kansas State University in 1987, earning her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Beyond her professional commitments, Tammy is on Parish Council at Seven Dolors Catholic Church and has held leadership roles within community organizations such as Riley County 4-H Foundation and Wildcat 4-H Club. In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time outdoors and with her two daughters and their families.

Robert joined the SGA team in June of 2009. He specializes in Windows Server Administration, small business network management, and IT security.  Within the firm, Robert is responsible for information technology management, IT consulting, IT support and troubleshooting, and network security, backed by 15 years of experience in the IT field. Robert graduated from the Kansas State University College of Business in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and completed his Master of Business Administration degree in 2011. Robert is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Flush Knights of Columbus. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and doing Crossfit.

She graduated with her Associate of Arts from Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College. In her spare time, Becca is a competitive ballroom dancer. Betty joined SGA in 1992 and has a B.S. in Business Administration from Kansas State University. Her responsibilities include tax preparation, payroll, and monthly accounting . Betty is involved as a member and part of the Board of Directors for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas serving on the Accountants Seminar Committee and Membership Committee. She is active in the community with Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Seven Dolors Catholic Church, serves on the Riley County 4-H Foundation Board and the Fairy Godmothers Board.  In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and travel.

With over 20 years of accounting experience, Beth brings a wealth of expertise in business accounting and revenue cycles. In 2021, she joined Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP, where she focuses on business accounting and tax return preparation. She’s a member of the Medical Group Management Association in Kansas and at the national level, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. She has a passion for the arts and loves attending music events and museums. Fun fact: Her family has a winery in California and their wines are available in Manhattan.

Michelle joined Sink, Gordon & Associates, LLP in December 2017 and brings over 28 years of experience to the firm. She primarily works with corporate accounting clients. Michelle earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Kansas State University in 1989. Outside of her responsibilities at the firm, Michelle is a member of St. Thomas More in Manhattan, Kansas, volunteers at the local schools and her church and has two children, Cody and Hannah.

He is professionally involved as a member and part of the Board of Directors for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, serving as the Accountants Seminar Committee Chair, and serves as Scholarship Committee member. Andy graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Master of Accountancy in 2002.  Outside of the office, Andy is a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church and treasurer for the Manhattan Rotary Club. Beyond his commitments, Andy enjoys spending time with his family and son Jacob, volunteering for Cub Scouts, serving as a Den Leader and watching K-State sports.

Karla attended Kansas State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1977. Outside of her time at the firm, Karla enjoys time with family and has one son.

Erika joined Sink, Gordon and Associates LLP in 2013. She graduated in 2002 with her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wartburg College in 2002. She then furthered her education by earning her Master of Music degree in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Erika went on to obtain her Master of Accountancy degree from Stetson University in 2011. Prior to her work with SGA, she gained eight years of accountancy experience and lived in a variety of communities prior to Manhattan due to her husband’s active military service.  She advises clients in a number of areas including military tax strategies, QuickBooks consulting, tax preparation, payroll services, and general bookkeeping. Erika is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two young daughters, and being active in her church and community, including serving as a 3-16 CAV Regiment FRG Advisor.

Amy has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since January of 2010 and works with business entities and individuals on taxation, research and consulting. Amy has a combined 20 years of accounting experience and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She pursued a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health-Medical Dietetics at The Ohio State University and graduated in 1977. She gained her Master of Professional Accountancy from Wichita State University in December 1996. Amy gained her CPA designation in January 1997. Outside of the firm, she is involved with her church in Topeka, St. David’s Episcopal. Additionally, Amy volunteers for several organizations within the Topeka community by participating in Share Fest, Let’s Help and volunteering at Rescue Mission, among other organizations. Amy has three children.

Marne graduated from Washburn University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in management. Outside of her time at the firm, Marne enjoys spending time with her family and watching movies.  She and her husband have one daughter, Emily, and two labs, Cole and Callie. They are members at University Christian Church in Manhattan.

Outside of work, Kaitlan is involved as a USATF Certified Track and Field Official and serves as a Track Official for Kansas State University.  Outside of her time at the firm, she enjoys spending time with her husband Brady and son Winston, traveling to Iowa to see her family, cheering on and attending many K-State Wildcat sporting events, and is a member of University Christian Church in Manhattan.

Nastassja Heitmann joined SGA in August 2020, bringing 15 years of accounting experience with her. She graduated in 2002 from St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY, with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and her primary focus for SGA will be tax preparation. In her free time, Nastassja enjoys watching her two children play competitive soccer, baking, bike riding, attending K-State sporting events, and volunteering at her church and at her children’s school.

Teresa has been with SGA since December 1996. Her main roles include tax returns, monthly accounting, and payroll. She attended Manhattan Area Technical School before joining the SGA team. She serves as a board member for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Teresa is involved in the community through attending Chamber After Hours and as an active member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church. Outside of her commitments, Teresa enjoys gardening and reading, attending her grandchildren’s activities and has three children.

Scott joined the SGA team in January of 1998 and is responsible for income tax preparation and planning, working with small businesses and not-for-profit entities, and is a resource in employee benefit plans. As a member of the firm, Scott enjoys helping clients develop and realize their goals for their business and the future. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Scott is active within the Seven Dolors Catholic Church.

Shortly after starting here, she graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting. Lauren is passionate about sports. She earned two degrees from Fort Hays State University: Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (2016) and Master of Business Administration with an accounting emphasis (2017). Professionally, she is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Kansas Society of CPAs. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and baking, cheering for the Royals, quality time with family, and long walks and drives through the country. Jenna is an active member of St. Isidores Catholic Church and serves the Riley County Humane Society as their treasurer.

Travis joined the SGA team in January 2010. He advises clients on business and individual tax, trust and estate tax, and works as a certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor. Travis graduated from Kanas State University with his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2008 and his Master of Accountancy in 2009 from Kansas State University. Along with his career, Travis is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and serves on the Board of Directors for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Beyond his professional commitments, Travis is a volunteer coach for several area youth sports teams and is a lifelong Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan.

James Marsicek joined the SGA team in July 2019 and primarily focuses on tax preparation and planning. He has more than seven years of accounting experience and enjoys working with agriculture and construction clients. James graduated from Doane University in Crete, Nebraska, with bachelor's degrees in accounting and business administration. Professionally, he is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Kansas Society of CPAs. He is also a member of the Manhattan Young Professionals "Play" Committee, Pheasants Forever, and the Optimist Club. James played baseball in college and volunteers as a youth baseball coach. In his free time, he loves attending sporting events and enjoys outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Outside of the firm, Elmerene takes pride in supporting local charities, spending time with her grandchildren, being outdoors and reading.

Tim started at SGA in 1994 and has over 41 years of experience in accounting. Tim’s focus for the firm is tax preparation and planning. Tim gained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pittsburg State University in 1976. Outside of the firm, Tim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Manhattan Country Club, and has two older children.

Vicky joined the firm in 2007 and brings ten years of accounting experience to her clients. Her primary areas of focus are payroll, financial statements, and trust, business, and individual tax preparation. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from York College in 2007. Professionally, Vicky is a member of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Outside of her time with the firm, Vicky stays active in the community with her church and enjoys time with family and friends. She and her husband, Jacob, have three children: Brooklyn, Delcie and Cason.

Andrew joined Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP in 2021 after receiving his Master of Accountancy from Kansas State University. His main professional responsibility is auditing, and he specializes in risk analysis and mitigation, system design, data analysis and presentation. Andrew has a passion for philanthropy and enjoys working with not-for-profits. In his spare time, Andrew can be found woodworking, metalworking or gardening when he’s not hanging out with his daughter Madalyn.

Margret has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since January 1983. Her most important responsibilities at the firm include basic accounting-bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and payroll. Margret appreciates her time at SGA because she enjoys working with her clients and having the opportunity to get to know them. Margret graduated from Kansas State University in 1978 and began her career with International Harvester prior to joining SGA. Outside of her time in the office, Margret serves as the Director for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas and enjoys needlepoint and crocheting.

Laurene holds 33 years of experience in the accounting industry, 23 of which have been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP, beginning in January 1994. Laurene specializes in tax preparation, tax planning, consulting, payroll preparation, and working as a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. In conjunction with her work, Laurene is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Before beginning her career, Laurene earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis area in Accounting from Kansas State University, graduating in 1994 and earning her CPA designation.  Currently, Laurene spends the majority of her free time serving as a council member for both Wamego High School and St. Bernard Catholic Church and served as the Treasurer for the Wamego Athletic Booster Club. Outside of volunteering her time for the Wamego community, Laurene dedicates her time to her children, Nathan, Ellianna, and Adam and to following Kansas State sports.

Gary joined SGA in November 2020 and has 14 years of experience in the accounting industry. He provides tax preparation and business consulting services for corporations, s-corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Gary graduated from Texas Tech in 2008 with two degrees: a Master of Science in Accountancy with an emphasis in taxation and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. In his free time, he enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, cooking, listening to music, and rooting for the Red Raiders.

Sandi has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since July 1984, immediately following her graduation from Manhattan Area Technical College. She is responsible for accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and electronic filing. Sandi is very active in her community, serving as the treasurer for the City of Randolph, secretary for Randolph PRIDE, and an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She volunteers for the Randolph Independence Day festivities and the community fish fry. Outside of her time at the firm, Sandi enjoys spending time with her family, attending KSU football games and walking for exercise.

Gina joined Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP in January 2011, bringing 6 years of public accounting experience with her. Her professional experience includes income tax preparation, consulting, municipal budgeting, payroll services, and other accounting services. Additionally, she is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  In 2004, Gina graduated from Kanas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in accounting with an economics minor.  She then pursued her Masters of Accountancy degree with an emphasis in accounting information systems, graduating in 2005. When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two small children attending sporting events, school activities, and enjoying the outdoors.

Marco joined the SGA and James Gordon & Associates CPA, P.A. teams in January 2020 and primarily focuses on auditing. He graduated from K-State in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Kylie has been part of the SGA team since January 2020. She graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University. Her primary responsibility is tax preparation, but she also has experience in acccounting and payroll services. Outside of work, Kylie enjoys hiking in national parks, trying new foods, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her two cats.

Adam has been with SGA since September of 2014, focusing on Information Technology services including network management, technical support, and systems information technology. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Management Information Systems. Adam is a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church and serves as treasurer of the Westmoreland Recreation Commission. In his free time, he enjoys watching K-State sports, spending time with his two sons, Jackson and Lane, going to the lake, and helping on his family farm.

Gail grew up in Clay Center, KS and graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1986. Immediately following graduation, she attended cosmetology school at Crum’s Beauty College in Manhattan, Kansas, where she graduated with a cosmetology degree in June of 1987. Gail went to work for Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP in 1992 and has been a tax return assembly specialist for 27 years. Gail also assists with monthly payroll, bank reconciliations, and other monthly accounting services. In addition to her duties at SGA, Gail coordinated and managed the Blue Valley Ball Association for youth in the USD 384 school district for six years. In her time off she likes spending time with her family and taking care of their dogs and cats.

Nancy has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since 1978 and is responsible for accounts receivable and providing administrative support for the partners. Prior to her work in the accounting industry, Nancy earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1974 and raised three children: Michael, Daniel, and Katelyn. Nancy stays involved in the community by serving as the Public Relations Chair for both the Riley County Genealogical Society and the Friends of Peace Memorial Auditorium. Most recently, Nancy was appointed to the Riley County Museum Board of Trustees by the Riley County Commissioners.

Logan joined the Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP team in 2017 and is responsible for tax and accounting services for individuals, partnerships, and S-corporations. He graduated from William Jewell College in 2016, obtaining bachelor degrees in accounting and business administration, and later earned his masters of accountancy in June 2017 from Kansas State University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Natalie, golfing, and cheering on K-State athletics. Logan is a member of the HYPE (Young Professionals of Manhattan) Engage Committee and is a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he teaches Financial Peace University courses.

Shelia has been with Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP since September of 1998.  She specializes in a variety of areas in for the firm, including preparation of corporate and partnership tax returns, individual taxation preparation, payroll preparation and compliance, small business accounting, and sales tax. Prior to joining SGA, Shelia earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting from Rockhurst College in 1993. In conjunction with her career, Shelia serves on the Board of Directors for the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. Currently, Shelia devotes most of her free time to her three children: Michael, Elizabeth, and Isabel and is an active member of the community, holding leadership positions in several organizations including the Blue Valley Booster Club, the Manhattan Catholic Schools Booster Club, and the College Hill 4-H Club.
